The indulgent path to money management!

indulgent moneyPeople want to know.  They ask me, how did you quit your job and go hike the Appalachian Trail for six months?  How did you pay off your house by age 40?  How did you buy two new cars with cash over the past nine years?  How did you do that all on two modest teachers’ salaries, while still having a cushion to sustain you for a year if necessary?  How is it that you always seem to be traveling somewhere fun, eating something yummy, or just enjoying your days?  How do you have enough money and have such an indulgent life?

Turns out it’s pretty simple.  It doesn’t involve selling real estate, crazy pyramid schemes, or anything creepy and untoward.  It also doesn’t involve stressful and restrictive budgeting or complicated spreadsheets. Truthfully, it’s pretty Zen– mostly involving “waking up” and being aware.

“Waking up” from what?  Maybe from a deceptive and false version of the “American Dream”. Maybe from the expectations of what makes a good life, sold to us daily by zillions of advertisements to the point that we don’t actually know what we really want.   Maybe from spending more than we earn every month and waking up in the middle of the night scared because we have so much debt.  Maybe from believing that money and stuff will solve our problems.

Here’s a little video to tell you more about what I mean:

The Indulgent Path to Money Management is a simple five session telecourse that will help you get straight with your money without feeling deprived and miserable.

This course is for you if you’re-

  • stressed about money.
  • wishing you had enough money for that special trip, house, item, or event.
  • struggling with more debt that you’re comfortable with.
  • finding yourself “in a fog” when you shop, either at the grocery store, online or in the mall.
  • overwhelmed with the stuff you own while at the same time craving stuff you don’t have.
  • tired of starting budgeting programs that you abandon after the second or third week.
  • realizing that there has to be a better way that’s more peaceful and doesn’t feel like you’re being punished.

There is a better way! When you take the steps in the Indulgent Path to Money Management,

  • you’ll know the truth about your financial situation, and truth inevitably leads to peace.
  • your spending will naturally go down without any negative impact on your happiness.
  • your relationships will improve.
  • your values and lifestyle will feel better connected.
  • you’ll notice a boost in your mood – you’ll be having fun instead of feeling stressed or empty.
  • you’ll have more money to use as you choose, whether it’s to reduce your debt, save it for a special trip, or spend it on something you’ve been wishing for.
  • you’ll have the freedom to do what you actually want, regardless of your income.

This program is not about becoming a millionaire or living like the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, although we can learn some interesting things from their lifestyles.  It won’t undo years of accumulated debt overnight, but it will start you on a more sustainable path.

In the Indulgent Path to Money Management, you’ll learn

  • what makes you feel rich and how to bring more of that into your life.
  • where your “money leaks” are and how to stop them.
  • where in your life you have enough and where you have too much, and what to do about it.
  • which problems in your life can be solved with money and which ones can’t, and how to know the difference.
  • a simple method to get super-clear on your finances and what’s actually going on with the flow of money in and out of your household.
  • how to save money for what you actually want, while having fun doing it!
  • how to create a sustainable, workable, long-term method for meeting your financial goals while enjoying a lovely life in the meantime.

If you don’t have the money you need to live your best life, it’s stifling and stressful. Creating a secure financial situation for yourself allows you to do your real work in the world, and that’s the most important reason to get clear with your money and set yourself up for financial freedom.

Here’s what people are saying about the The Indulgent Path to Money Management:

lgcrb“I was hesitant to sign up for your class. I didn’t think you could tell me anything I hadn’t already heard. But I was mistaken.  I gained a great deal of insight as to where my money was actually going. And now I also view the energy I invest in my work and my play very differently– investing more of it in what I truly love doing and spending less time and energy stressed about what is truly beyond my control at my job. During the Indulgent Path Class, we went from having $5 in savings to nearly $1800.  And now, though we may need to use those savings for an upcoming move, I know we can fill it back up! Before this class I struggled to understand how I could make so much and still live paycheck to paycheck. I never felt like I bought much, and truth is, I didn’t. Nothing more than my awareness has really changed and yet it seems as if there is more money floating about! Ah, and yes, there is!” -Leigh Garske, FL

rrt“I really liked the private group as a component and counterpoint to the live calls. The group helped me to feel more connected to everyone else and to the themes, plus everyone was so nice! I would definitely recommend this class to others. Absolutely anyone can benefit from taking the time to focus on their finances and pay more attention to every penny that comes in and goes out.” Remy Robert,  RI

thwallip “I was worried that I might feel “over exposed” as a result of sharing my money issues, but you didn’t cold call people, and you gave us lots of reassurance and told plenty of stories about yourself. You shared content and concepts that were new and refreshing. Your style and the class format is a very gentle ‘waking up’ to a potentially scary topic.  Since taking the class there’s a lot less “auto pilot” stuff going on for me because I’ve looked at and evaluated my finances and as a result made changes which resulted in spending less. I was hoping The Indulgent Path to Money Management would add another level of awakening about my relationship with money and I definitely got that!” Theresa Waller, Trusting Your Body, CA

“I have always had a fear of finances which has gotten me into a little bit of trouble when I wasn’t paying attention.  The class took away most of the fear and made managing my finances even fun sometimes.  The most important part I learned was how having a value-based system, and basing my spending on it, really clarifies my vision for my life.” – Gayle Olson, AZ

“I’ve been using a budget and been very careful with my money for a long time, but wanted to learn more about indulgence. The biggest thing I gained was to think about what is enough versus too much, and what feels good and indulgent versus over-consumption.  I’m still thinking about these things in terms of my daily spending.  I appreciated having worksheets to sum up everything so I didn’t have to take notes during the calls. I’d recommend this class if you tend to avoid thinking about your finances – do these steps and you’ll see a difference!” – Katherine, LA

The Indulgent Path to Money Management includes:

  • Seven live (and recorded!) conference call classes – some more focused on me teaching you some steps and sharing what to do, some more focused on you getting feedback and asking questions.
  • A targeted indulgent money management step sent to you after each call that you’ll have a week or two– plenty of time! – to implement and reap the benefits!
  • A private online group where you can share your progress and get support and feedback from me and program participants.

FAQs: Q. Why are you doing this? A. One of the things I keep seeing getting in the way of people living their “wild and precious lives” is money.  And I want to help with that. I discovered a bunch of books and resources somewhere around 1999 that turned our lives around financially.  And that’s part of why I could make the choices I did in the upcoming years.  What I’ve done with this program is distill the best information that worked for me from everything I read – and I read a lot!  I’m sharing the methods that worked for me to help others have more freedom to live their wild and precious lives.

Q. I’m not in major debt; I just wish I had more money to work with to live my dreams  – is this program for me? A. Absolutely!  Without having to climb out of the hole of debt accumulation, these steps work even faster to move you toward the life you want!

Q. I’m not interested in anything gimmicky.  Are you going to do a “bait and switch” and try to sell us some moneymaking business scheme? A. Gosh no.  There are no schemes here.  It’s all pretty much common sense.  All the best ideas are.  It turns out that common sense is really effective, and sometimes it’s really valuable having someone who’s already made it work show you how to do it.

Q. How is this going to help any more than reading one of any number of financial books available out there? A. Well, it might not help any more than that.  It really depends on whether you implement the steps I outline for you, just like if you implemented the steps in any of the financial books.  The difference is that I actually did the steps I’ll be sharing and they really did work for me.

Q. Do you have any financial background? A.  Absolutely not!  And believe me, I won’t be giving any advice about investing, interest rates, stocks, bonds, and all that stuff.  Those concepts are outside the scope this program.  This is about the simple nuts and bolts of money coming in and out of a household.  It’s about how you personally address the money flowing through your life.   The expertise I bring to the table is ten-plus years of doing these steps so that I have more freedom to do my work in the world and enjoy my life.

Q. Are you going to have us make vision boards and just sit on our couches dreaming about money and Mazeratis? A. While I love a good vision board, there actually aren’t any in this program.  This is definitely not about dreaming.  It’s about the reality of money and how you use it every day.  Everyone makes and spends money.  This is about doing it in a way that allows you to have what you want.  So I guess that part is kind of like a vision board!

Q. I see that there are U.S. dollars on your banner.  Is this program only for people in the U.S.? A. Great question!  While I am an American and thus my cultural references about television, magazines, places, etc. will tend to be American, this program works anywhere.  The U.S. has a pretty distinctive culture around consumption that can make it harder to know what we really want, but the steps work anywhere.

Are you ready to make 2013 a more prosperous, more lovely, more joy-filled year with fewer money issues?  Would you like to get a handle on your finances once and for all?  Most importantly, are you ready to look at your life carefully and find out what really makes you happy, so that your money can serve you and your values?  Are you ready to wake up?
