This is Buster. He’s been my best teacher for more than 12 years. He’s laying next to me right now, napping.
Buster reminds me daily of the importance of rest. Deep relaxing naps. Stretching out in the sun. Watching the butterflies. So when you’re in a full-throttle, hurtling toward your dreams, frenzied, action-step, goal-setting, crazy-busy, make-it-happen NOW! state, and your body cries out for a break, take a cue from Buster.
Take three deep breaths. (No fair if you just think about breathing – you have to actually do it!) Ask your body what it wants. Then do it. Dial it back, stare at the trees, go for a walk, curl up under a blanket, make a cup of tea, stare into space. For as long as you need. Get back in the present and out of the future. Ahh – that’s better.
